Dolphin Haven Travellers Inn on the peninsula across Puerto Princesa Bay. It is a beautiful, and off the beaten track property with adorable and well-appointed native huts to stay in.
The property boasts a 400-meter bamboo bridge that runs through a mangrove forest and ends at the sea, where, at low tide, you can jump in and swim or snorkel amongst the amazing mangrove roots that protect and harbor a wide variety of sea life.
There is a restaurant on the premises with the best food on this side of the bay, as well as in the Puerto Princesa town center. It features local favorites as well and a very good selection of international fare such as pizza, pasta, chicken cordon bleu, Back ribs, fish and chips, etc. I eat there quite often myself!
The last part of the road is bumpy and rough, but do not let that put you off as the native huts are so quaint and you will get the best breakfast along with your stay!
If you have a day or two free, there is a white sand beach nearby with a native resort on the beach. Called Matahum beach. There is a touristy place for day use with a large swing and an infinity pool to swim in, angle wings to pose beside called Palawan Swing Leisure hill. Up the hill from us is Al Hamra Jungle resort which many local ex-pats and visitors frequent with a bar and deep swimming pool. You definitely will not be bored on this quiet, peaceful side of Puerto Princesa bay if you prefer the road less traveled and not hordes of other tourists.
